Don't rush to Amazon for those 1997 TV versions with Helen Baxendale, you won't find this scene.
This brilliant sequence features Pippa Guard in the 1982 movie version, directed by Christopher Petit,
(to whom many thanks for a completely gratuitous scene which never occurred in the P.D.James book, I know, I looked!)
This is now an extremely rare work, only available on VHS, but prohibitively priced as collectors items.
The cheapest I've seen are on Amazon UK, where they're asking 50 or 60 quid.
