This is such a glorious hanging. I really loved how she was put in a cage and hanged again.
For those more informed?
Why was she hanged first then put in a cage? Couldn't she have been put in the cage first, then the noose put round her neck and then hanged? I think that would have been a more proper way to be 'hanged in a cage'.
I wonder it must be really humiliating to be publicly hanged and certain more so if you know you will be left hanging in a cage. I would feel insulted but I would like to give a proper show Atleast. I would have certainly chosen a very preety dress to wear for the post execution hanging in the cage ceremony lol.

This is a French Canadian TV dramatization of a true story, that of Marie-Josephte Corriveau, hanged for murder in 1763.
The actual ‘Corriveau Cage’ has subsequently been recovered, and is now a museum piece.

The use of a cage to exhibit hanged criminals on the gibbet was actually a fairly common practice.
I don’t believe there are any authenticated accounts of it being employed during the actual execution,
but the idea was given an airing in the 2004 movie ‘Nouvelle-France’ (‘Battle Of The Brave’),
also a French Canadian production, so possibly inspired by this story.

Yes that's what I meant. This looks so hot, I don't even know why. But I became a fan of cage hanging after watching this scene, though its a very very rare type of hanging execution. I wish if I ever get hanged, this is how I would like it to be. I would love to wear preety victorian dress, with corset and a hoop skirt. Just imagine the hoop crammed inside the cage. I will look like a swinging stuffed doll lol.

Honestly, what surprised me was that it was right back into the gallows they dropped her from rather than the cage. Caging the body up to hang elsewhere and making room for the next execution makes sense, but putting it right back in just made me raise an eyebrow.. though, I guess if they aren't using it that often it makes some sense.
