Stumbled across this while googling for "agatha cristie hanging":
“Relief possessed Vera - enormous exquisite relief. At last it was over. There was no more fear - no more steeling of her nerves. She was alone on the island, alone with nine dead bodies.
But what did that matter? She was alive. She sat there - exquisitely happy - exquisitely at peace. No more fear.
She had come now to the door of her room. She opened the door.
She gave a gasp…
What was that - hanging from the hook in the ceiling? A rope with a noose all ready? And a chair to stand upon - a chair that could be kicked away.
And of course that was the last line of the rhyme.
‘He went and hanged himself and then there were none…’”
Like an automaton Vera moved forward. This was the end.

If memory serves, dashing leading man Louis Hayward thwarts Barry Fitzgerald's evil plan,
and she doesn't get another inch closer to that noose!

The only mainstream movie based on this novel with real hanging seems to be the Russian one «Десять негритят» that was made by Govorukhin in 1987.

I feel duty bound to give out a shout for the UK, and nominate 'And Then There Were None' with Maeve Dermody.
Produced for the BBC in 2015.

And of course I completely overlooked 'Ten Little Indians' from 1989, with Donald Pleasence and Frank (brother of Sly) Stallone.
Although ultimately rescued Sarah Maur Thorp did dangle for a while.
The story was transposed to Africa, and the film more commonly known as 'Death On Safari'.
I could have sworn we had it on site, but I'm damned if I can find it.
Does anyone recognise the screenshot, or maybe I'll have to go rummaging in the video vault.

Well, if no-one has found any vidcaps of my old VHS-sourced clip,
I suppose we'll just have to make do with the updated 1.85:1 HD version instead.
