I heard that in fact the women were executed in trousers, after the hanging of Edith Thompson and the accident with (allegedly) uterus. Ipersonally like to see women on the scaffold in skirts or shirt dresses, but I would be delighted to see Ruth - as Elain hopes - in her stockings and - as I hope - in a skirt.
From reading the book the series is based on she wore a special nappy to deal with that ‘issue’.

She cleaned her face, brushed out her hair and used the lavatory. Then she applied a minimum of make-up, clicking open the powder compact that played a faint, tinkling tune: ‘La Vie en rose’.”

Despite a number of websites being very recently updated to still say this is coming to ITV and ITVX on February 17, we now have next Monday's schedules published in the UK.
And there is NO sign of it !!
However, it does look as though it will appear on BritBox, at least on the other side of the pond.

I've managed to download episode 2 from the usual informal sources.
(For some odd reason, episode 1 is not yet available, but I expect it soon.)

Also it looks like they're exactly following Carol Ann Lee's story (little bit of makeup, pierrepoint measurements, T mark on trapdoor...)
I somehow acquired the entire series. The execution ended with hooding while the drop was not explicitly portrayed. However, the show is very good. Deep and nuanced exploration of the law, justice, intimacy and the difficulty women were faced with in 1950s. The atomsphere and the narration of the show is also good. Lucy Boynton's performance really stands out. Overall a very good show and a very good portral of Ruth.

I heard that they enforced her to canvas or rubber pants to avoid leakage. It is very sad if it was instead of skirt she choosed.
