The execution scene in the season finale, which appears in episode 8, is quite the watch. Almost a stone cold classic of the genre. Emily Bader is fantastic as the doomed, eponymous heroine.

There is also an added bonus: as Jane awaits death in her cell, she rehearses her imminent beheading by placing her neck on a chair, pretending it's the block, while a voice over documents other condemned women who steeled themselves for the blow of the Headsman's axe.

Top notch stuff.

I agree. Somebody needs to do a supercut.

Can we mention the “Fuck No” when the executioner asks for forgiveness?

That was an unexpected twist ;)

That will become my standard reply in future roleplays….

There's a cartoon at the very beginning of episode 1 with a pretty good beheading sequence in which the head is actually cut off, in a play on the famous Paul Delaroche painting.

Does anybody have a clip to download?

Is the first version of her execution on the same episode?

SPOILER ALERT There are three execution scenes in the series. One is the cartoonish depiction of Lady Jane's accurate death at the begining of the first episode. The next one is when Lady jane is being taken to the Tower and she remembers the execution of Catherin Howard Jane witnessed as a child (this one was hot as hell), and the third execution is her own when she is resqued at the last moment (ah what a pity! LOL). It was a funny young adult fantasy about the Tudor age of course full of hystorical inaccuracies. I liked it (especially the "Fuck no!" was truly funny). As a beheading fan I have two issues however: One is the black ribbon which serves as the blindfold. When the executioner rises the axe to decapitate Lady Jane it covers her neck clearly in the way of the fatal blow. So if the executioner wouldn't be attacked by the hawk his strike would be botched. The filmmakers should have taken care of a detail like that. For example letting the executioner wipe the ribbon away from her neck. The second issue is her position on the block. There are several shots of her kneeling at the block with her head in the notch which are not perfectly done. She is holding her head too upwards. Some of the shots are on the other hand showing her with her neck perfectly stretched for beheading. This would have been also made better. But all in all this was an almost perfect execution scene. Happy to have this TV show around. PS: I loved her practicing with the chair in her cell as well.
