Hello all,
What scenes from film/TV, if you were in charge of editing and shooting the footage, would you change? I'm not talking about what the actors actually do, but things like what the camera focuses on, what is included, what is cut, etc.
For my part, there are changes I would make to the guillotine/tumbril scenes from Tale of Two Cities 1935, 1958, and the 1980 mini-series, as well as the Scarlet Pimpernel 1934 and 1982. Essentially the same changes: more focus on the individual tumbrils and the people in them, with clearer/closer-in footage. Also, actually showing people being strapped in and put under the blade, rather than just a montage of the blade dropping and the mob cheering.
I appreciate that mainstream audiences don't want to see the actual heads coming off, but would it kill them to include a bit more context?
