I haven't seen the scene yet but when I saw who the actress was playing her I figured she'd be saved somehow.

I'm curious as to what "lung of ice" involves. The first thing that comes to mind is freezing the lungs somehow.

When you watch the whole episode, you'll see the full process demonstrated on a male prisoner.

Imagine being forced to breath cryogenic nitrogen vapor.
The guard tells her to "take one deep breath", to get it over with faster.
