If us ladies are to truly go to our deaths with dignity then our hair needs to be done, too! I'd say updos are ideal as they expose the neck for the blade or the rope.

Nice fact is it that nearly all listed things - corsets, petticoats, massive skirts - could cause a treachery malfunction during execution. I read a story in which there was a hangman who always used to add his weight to hanged girl's, but did it in way that caused dress to slip down!

 

That must have been quite a sight to see!! But really dishonourable for the hanging lady.

Hanging my the leg or stepping on her shoulders to add weight has always been really fascinating to me. I wonder if the hanged lady would be grateful and thank(in her mind since she cannot speak!) the person who adds his weight. For some reason I always imagine the person to be a young boy of 10 or 11 years who hangs by her feet for added weight rather than the hangman.

 

Yes, this part of hangman's job is very fascinating for me too. Though I prefer rather hanging on legs, because it allows to hangman a chance to feel her shudders, to smell her in very womanly places and to feel her hems, stockings etc right being hugged by him. :)

 

yep definitely its a great opportunity for the hangman. Under normal situation she would never allow a man like him to hug her tight, smell her fragnance and feel the folds of her petticoats.

This is certainly the attire I prefer to imagine as the lady walks toward the scaffold and the waiting Block! Lifting the hem of her dress as she steps onto the first step of the scaffold, then slowly stepping up onto the scaffold.

A cloak covering her bare shoulders, which she reveals as she prepares herself prior to kneeling at the Block!

Long flowing dress, not necessarily too many petticoats!

How does this sit with the ladies?

I have been following this thread with interest. For those of you who followed Execution Tales, especially from Part 3 onwards, it will probably be no surprise to learn that my preffered attire for ladies to wear at their hanging is the mini skirt, especially the tartan plaid flared type. As they dance their pumping thighs would push up the skirt revealing the brief tight white panties beneath to the entranced spectators

As you were led to the gallows in the flared tartan mini skirt white blouse & tan pantyhose that the state [In my fantasy world] made all condemned women wear at public hangings to enhance the spectacle & you realised as you mounted the steps to the scaffold that as you writhed & kicked on the rope your panties would be repeatedly & almost totally exposed as your skirt was raised up by your desperately threshing legs, in addition to being terrified, obviously, would you feel humiliated, embarrassed, turned on or a combination of all three?

 

I think the mini skirt is inappropriate for hanging and would not be used much prefer the long attire that has been discussed here

it's true madam
you would not have a choice
at best we would grant you a calf strap to keep your modesty

 

She certainly would not be given a choice & I for one would certainly be against giving her a calf strap to hold her skirt in place
