For beheading, do you prefer axe, sword or guillotine and why

 

I think I prefer the axe and block. I just feel like there's a whole ceremony surrounding it. Between the walk to the scaffold, the kneeling in front of the block, the blindfold, presenting the head.

Adelaide makes a compelling point, but...

...there's something special about the strict, helpless bondage of the guillotine, and...

...the sword always takes my mind back to Anne of the Thousand Days.

(Which I saw in a theater, in 1969.)

I like the bondage of the guillotine as well. Something I dislike with the axe and block is that usually the hands are free. However, in my fantasies, my hands are bound behind me.
