The start of Part Three gets under way with a formidable bang, taking us to Anne Boleyn mounting the scaffold and looking pensively and bravely at the Headsman's sword. Yet there is a perceptible fear in her demeanour as the realisation of what is about to happen to her sinks in.

This scene could have been a Classic- it has so much potential which remains, alas, unfulfilled. It simply doesn't go the whole way; if it had done, this scene would have been a Masterpiece. Nevertheless, just sit back and enjoy what is shown. It's flawed perfection.
