The Great Train Robbery (1978) is, of course, one of the classic English hanging scenes.

But only recently has it become available in 1080p:

Anyone know who’s the actress?

me too

but properly attached
hands behind the back
and legs to save my modesty

Yes. Modesty of a female hangee must be ensured in any public execution. Hands bound behind back and legs bound over her dress just over the ankles and noosed. What a fantastic figure she looks!

>Anyone know who’s the actress?

I was wondering about that, myself.

IMDB, and a little bit of Googling failed to turn up any information...

Thanks again for these beautiful photos. I never saw her pose execution face in detail until now. Amazing look! She has certainly paid for her crimes in full.
I was also looking for her name but nothing came up.

What was the reason for wearing a bonnet to your hanging? To control flowing hair? Or?

>What was the reason for wearing a bonnet to your hanging?

To enforce proper modesty, and perhaps shame.

>To control flowing hair?

Yes, that too. The hair must not interfere with the operation of the noose...

Why was wearing a bonnet to your hanging was shameful? I understand that its modest to cover ur head with a bonnet as u are going to be left hanging and displayed to the crowd.

The lady in the new photos look so helpless and delicate wearing her white bonnet. Is she being shamed as well. Is she in prison? Which movie?

>Is she being shamed as well. Is she in prison?

Yes, she is being executed as a murderer.
Most likely, she was a poisoner.

You mean the last 4 photos you posted are also from the same movie with the hanging scene? The First Great Train Robbery? Sorry I am confused. By the way she a preety lady.

>You mean the last 4 photos you posted are also from the same movie with the hanging scene?

Sorry, no. They come from a TV series called "Cribb", in an episode called "Waxwork"

Thanj you. The lady looks really preety in her prison uniform dress.

Yeah, that lady from Waxwork is a beauty. The talk about hanging her plenty, but never show it. Another prick-tease courtesy of those bastard cinema directors.

It is very favorite scenery of hanging as for me.
Very nice.

I wish to look my finest, at the height of feminine beauty and grace at my own hanging. A respectable Lady, prim and proper.

>A respectable Lady, prim and proper.

Of course. British hangings were notable for their formality.

Regarding the lady from 'Train Robbery'

I ran down a copy of Crichton's book, and found that he'd named the condemned as 'Emma Barnes'.
Now, she IS in the cast list, played by one Susan Hallinan.
Although IMDb hasn't much else on her, I did find this Irish actress appeared in RTE TV production 'Antigone' in 1969
There's also a Google reference to a Susan Hallinan and her husband, both from Dublin, moving to USA and running a theatre in Bridgeport NY in 2000

A couple of pics didn't upload with the previous post

Your research skills are formidable!

Susan Hallinan!
If I ever met or could write to her I would let her know how a fine figure she looked hanging from the gallows, in her black dress and white bonnet.
