It was a silly mistake, the guards' boss admitted. She should have been taken to the scaffold already hooded. Now, seeing me at her side, with the hood on my head and facing the noose and then seen hers, awaiting to squeeze brutally her neck, my wife panicked and began to resist, to no avail, of course, in a few minutes more we will be kicking and jerking at the end of our ropes, making ugly noises as we unsuccesfully fight to get at least another gulp of air, well hanged!
